Standing Watch Through the Thomas Fire and the Montecito Debris Flow
In December 2017 the Thomas Fire burned through the hills above Montecito, and on January 9, 2018 heavy rain on the burn scar sent mud and debris through the community, taking 23 lives. Taurus Protection officers were on the ground through both disasters, protecting properties, helping in the search for victims, and supporting the people who live here.

The SituationTwo Disasters, One Community
The Thomas Fire was one of the largest wildfires in California history. Homes across Montecito were evacuated, and many owners could not get back to their properties for days. Weeks later, the same burned hillsides gave way. The debris flow closed roads, destroyed homes, and turned neighborhoods into search areas. Empty, evacuated properties needed protecting, and the community needed every trained set of hands it could get.
What Our Officers DidOn the Ground When It Mattered
Property Security
Our officers kept watch over homes and estates while owners were evacuated, so properties were not left unprotected during the fire and its aftermath.
Search for Victims
After the debris flow, our team helped search for people who were missing, working alongside the wider response effort in the affected neighborhoods.
Assist & Protection
We provided protection and hands-on assistance to residents and properties in the impacted areas while the community began to recover.
Local, Trained, and Already Here
Emergencies on the South Coast do not wait for a contract to be signed. Our officers live and work in Santa Barbara County, know Montecito's roads and properties, and have already stood watch through the worst the area has seen. That is the team you get when you hire Taurus Protection for estate security, fire watch, or residential patrol.
